Wassup beautiful people!
It’s a new week which means all new things. New Goals. New Mindset. New whatever you need to reset for this week.
I hope you all had a beautiful weekend, even though we are quarantined (SOME OF YOU AREN'T STAYING YALL ASSES INDOORS OR WEARING YOUR MASK!) *ROLLS EYES* lol
But anywho, today I wanted to talk about Support vs Popularity.
Support- something I almost never get.
The state or condition of being liked, admired, or supported by many people.
In the business world, many people do not like to support. A lot of people are usually supported by popularity. Think of it like high school, people are always labeling groups of people. You had the jocks, drama club, photography club, reading book club, and your popular kids. Now, in the business world, it is just like that but it should not be. I have seen people support others just because they are popular.
When starting out and having your own business we all expect people to automatically support us, especially our family and friends. You have to always remember that everyone is not your customer. You would think that family and friends would be the first ones supporting you no matter what. Sometimes support doesn't mean that you have to spend money. It can be free! There are plenty of ways to support someone….hmmm share a post on your page!
Tip time, do not count on some of your family and friends to support you...some of them will, but don't stress yourself out about that. You have to remember that everyone is not interested in what you sell/do. It is very important to remember that. BUT what I noticed from my pov is that there are always groups that keep everything within their circle. They don't like helping others and sometimes, I believe that they feel threatened by what they think or perceive to be their competition.
I am very observant. I see everything. Some people do not know that a simple shoutout, word to mouth, a little free promotion will help. But where I'm from, there is a lack of support in my community. There's more of a popularity thing that I see going on. I don't like it all. It seems as if, no one else can shine because other businesses don't want to share their spotlight, but it is actually “the” spotlight.
Another thing I noticed, some successful entrepreneurs that are on a higher level DO NOT LIKE HELPING new businesses. I’ve heard stories of new entrepreneurs encountering some of these entrepreneurs (no good stories at all). They would set up business meetings and do a no call no show, have nasty attitudes, and are just disrespectful.
Why do all of that? For the record, I have reached out to some for help, which meant I admire your work and want to learn from you. I also have no problem paying for a service. However, your nasty attitude, no show or lack of respect, negated you knowing this! See me, I love helping people whether it is for FREE or for a FEE! No matter what, I treat them with RESPECT!
Y’all be blocking y’all blessings being all sour. CUT THAT SHIT OUT!
You also have to remember that everyone's mindset is not like yours (Something I still struggle with til this day lmao)
Here’s another tip, everyone is different and they do not want what you want. Do not get upset when you do not see eye to eye with everyone. Now, you are all worked up, losing sleep while they are still not worried.
As a business owner you have to be prepared for whatever and you will go through a mix of emotions because running a business is a challenge! BUT IT IS WORTH IT!
Always remain solid, don't worry about how others are running their business, focus on you and your business, people are very observant, so they will be able to see what vibes you and your business give off and what you are bringing to the table. Last, but not least remember to always remain humble no matter what.
You never know who is watching you, wants success for you, and may want to BLESS YOU.
You will make some mistakes, so always stay positive and keep going.
That support will come and your business will be successful.
