TRADEMARK YOUR BUSINESS

You can file a trademark on your own, but if you want someone to help you or give you the legal advice you can hire an experienced attorney who is licensed to practice law in the united states.
The application must meet many legal requirements before your trademark can be registered.
A trademark protects brand names and logos used on goods and services.
A patent protects an invention.
A copyright protects an original artistic or literary work.
A domain name is part of a web address that links to the internet protocol address (IP) to a particular website.

Is your trademark federally registrable?
Can you properly identify your goods or services?

There are four different marks you can register:
  1. TRADEMARK
  2. PATENT
  3. COPYRIGHT
  4. DOMAIN NAME

STEP ONE: Selecting your mark must be thought about carefully because not every mark is registrable.

STEP TWO:
Knowing your mark format identification of goods/services mark format is a standard character mask stylized design mark
Identification of goods and/or services identifying what your product is.
Searching the USPTO to the database will determine whether anyone is already claiming trademark rights in wording/design that is similar and used on related goods/services through federal registration.

STEP THREE:
When filing, you need to know exactly what you want to file.
If you need help, you can hire professional help with getting an attorney.
There is a fee for the application.
Once completed and filed, you will either be approved or denied for your application.

Hey bosses!

I hope all is well.

Let’s get into the organization. I love being organized, it makes my day go by smoothly and not having trouble with finding important documents and files when needed.

Since I deal with clients, I have everything organized in detail.
  • Color coordination for different files and projects
  • Checklist of tasks that need to be completed
  • Folder labels for emails by category
  • Email templates
  • Google Drive is your best friend

I can go on and on about the tools I use to make sure clients and myself stay organized. Being organized is just a breath of fresh air knowing everything is where it is at when needing to find an old email or specific file.

I always meet people who struggle with keeping organized. They might have a lot on their plate, but I love being the person to come in and clear your plate so you can focus on bigger projects that need your attention.

What are some organizational skills you use? Comment below

Hey bosses!

Hope all is well Happy ______!

This one is for all my fashion industry entrepreneurs. When it’s the slow season, this does not mean your business is coming to an end and you have to stop working. You should take the slow season time as a way to work on more behind the scenes and to GO HARDER!!!

Here are some tips and ideas on what you can do when it’s a slow season for your business.

Tip #1:
Take the time to check your emails and direct messages that you might have missed.

Tip #2:
Clean up your social media, check what needs to be updated, make sure all of your links are up to par.

Tip #3:
Check which supplies and inventory need to be ordered, the amount of stock you have on hand, and what can go on sale or clearance.

Tip #4:
Go over your budget and plan for new monthly budgets.

Tip #5:
Take some time for yourself, meditate, write some new goals, and enjoy the free time that you have because once the slow season is over, your business needs your mind cleared and on track.

I hope these tips can help you all to not feel so discouraged or think your business is a failure due to it being in the slow season. Do not stop working, continue to work, and continue to stay ready! You just never know when traffic will pick up again.

Hey bosses!

Today's topic that I want to dig a little deeper into is Time Management.

Here’s how I keep my clients and myself organized and on a tight schedule.

I use the apps Trello and Later. Trello is a software where you can assign yourself/team tasks for projects, store all of your content and ideas, and so much more.

Later is a scheduling app where you can schedule posts for all of your social media.

Managing your time is so important and having control is the best feeling!

Trello
  • Get as detailed as you can, give yourself deadlines, upload all files, and set reminders.
  • Group different projects and clients
  • Color coordinate
  • Create templates
Later
  • Auto publishing
  • Upload media
  • See Insights
  • Post to multiple social media
  • Content calendar

You can download the app via mobile or use your browser

Running A Business While Parenting

Hey, y'all!

I hope everyone is doing well and staying motivated.

Let’s get into it.

I am a single mom of a 2.5-year-old handsome boy that I refer to as my Sonshine. I want to talk about how it is running a business while being a parent. The first thing I learned is that you have to have balance. Without balance, the work-life can get a bit crazy and hectic.

I love being organized so here’s my daily schedule.
  • I wake up around 5:00 AM, get myself situated, and then I check all emails.
  • Around 8:30 AM I write down my goals for the day that need to be accomplished
  • 9:30 AM/10:00 AM my Sonshine is up for the day
  • 10:30 AM/11:00 AM I make us breakfast, we watch cartoons or a movie
  • 12:30 PM I get him situated with toys or his video game and then it’s back to work
  • 1:30 PM/2:00 PM he is ready for a nap and then I can get more work done.
  • 3:30 PM He is up, lunch and snacks are served, and I can finish up work.
  • I end my day at 5:00 PM and I spend the rest of my evening with him.

My schedule sounds like a lot, but it helps me with staying balanced and not getting so deep into my work. My baby is my everything and priority and at his age, I want to show him that I am here for him any time.

In undergrad school, I took a time management class and was obsessed with managing my time. Time management is very important and can help with so much when running a business and being a parent. Now some apps help and make life easier especially with being able to schedule your content for your businesses and freeing up time on your end.

Another tip for you business owners is to challenge yourself to create as much content as you can so you can free up time to focus on bigger tasks, projects, and more time with your little one(s).

To all you parents that are running a business, YOU GOT THIS!

It takes time to figure things out, remember to take a break, and spend time with your babies!!! Tasks will be there. Spend time and show your babies that they are number one.

Comment below some challenges you have being a parent and running a business.
